Dear Colleagues-
This past weekend was a very busy and successful one for the Foothill Band
Department:
WGASC
Championships
The Drill Team, under direction of Joanna Strachan, traveled to California
to compete in the Winter Guard Association of Southern California
Championships and placed 8th in their division.
Nevada
All-State
13 Foothill Band students (more than any other comprehensive high school in
the state) participated in the Nevada All-State performances.
Additionally, the Foothill Saxophone Quartet and Clarinet Quartet were the
only woodwind ensembles from CCSD selected to perform in the Solo & Ensemble
competition at All State.
WGI World
Championships
The Foothill Drum Line, under direction of Nick Waters, traveled to Dayton,
Ohio to compete in the Winter Guard International World Percussion
Championships. Groups from th USA, Canada, Japan, France, and Belgium were
in attendance.
We are the 1st school from Nevada to compete in this event. On Thursday,
April 15 the Drum Line competed in preliminary completion with approximately
60 groups. Foothill advanced to Semi-Finals with 20 other groups and
performed again later that night. That evening we found out that we
had advanced to the Final round with 11 other groups. On Friday, April
16th Foothill High School took 10th Place in the Scholastic A Division of
WGI World Championships. We will be featured on many percussion
product websites as were constantly filmed in the parking lot during warming
up.
