History

In its short history, the Foothill High School Bands have distinguished themselves apart on the national stage.  Foothill High School first opened its doors in 1999.  The current Director of Bands, Mr. Travis Pardee, joined the program in 2002 with approximately 80 band members.  Since that time, the band and color guard programs have grown to almost 350 members.

The Foothill Bands routinely send numerous students selected to perform with the Clark County Honor Band, the State of Nevada High School All State Band, and have many students competing in the Solo and Ensemble competitions.

In his time at Foothill, Mr. Pardee has led the Marching Band to nine Bands of America Finals, won many local marching competitions, and taken the entire marching band to several national and international events, including:

  • The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland (2009)
  • The National Memorial Parade in Washington DC (2012)
  • The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, NY (2014)

The Band is also consistently called upon to perform with celebrities on the famous Las Vegas “Strip,” and recently performed at Carnegie Hall.  The band has performed with celebrities such as:

  • Trace Adkins on the nationally televised American County Awards on Fox
  • Rascal Flatts (opening at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino)
  • Marie Osmond (at Carnegie Hall)

The Foothill Color Guard has also grown and now has a Varsity and Junior Varsity performing groups.  The Foothill Color Guard has won many indoor Winter Guard competitions and performs in the Southern Nevada Indoor Percussion Association competitions locally, the Winter Guard Association of Southern California, and regionally/nationally with Winter Guard International.

The Foothill Drum Line is also a consistent participant in the Winter Guard International World Championships in Dayton, Ohio, where they have been in the finals five times and recently took sixth place overall out of 54 Drum Lines in their class.
